If you’re looking for a Father’s Day present for your dad, husband or significant other, we’ve got a suggestion for you that might not be romantic, but it sure is practical, thoughtful and caring (and a whole lot better than a pair of socks or a tie!). It’s a new personal alcohol testing device from Integrity Sampling.
Why would an alcohol testing device or breathalyser be an excellent Father’s Day present?
These days (or at least before COVID-19) most of us like to go out for dinner, a drink with mates or another event where a beer or wine or two is involved and for those of us who do like to consume alcohol we all know that it can be difficult to keep up with your intake. So, if you need to be responsible because you’re driving, a personal breathalyser can be an excellent investment.
Why specifically does Integrity Sampling recommend the alcohol testing devices from Draeger?
As we’ve highlighted before in our blogs, not all personal breathalysers are created equal. Yes, you can buy a cheap alcohol testing device online or from stores – even paying as little as $20 – but like a lot of things you do get what you pay for.
The cheaper breathalyser are what are called semiconductor alcohol testing devices. In simple terms these devices use electric current to estimate blood alcohol level. We say estimate because in the case of semiconductor devices, that’s the best it is. They are far from accurate, particularly over time.
For a better quality alcohol testing device, you need to go to fuel cell breathalysers. These devices are more accurate and that’s why you’ll see them being used by police forces and workplace alcohol testing firms such as Integrity Sampling. We exclusively use Draeger alcohol testing devices for our testing purposes, all of which use fuel cell technology to estimate blood alcohol level.
But there’s that nasty word estimate again. That’s because no personal breathalyser is 100% accurate, even the fuel cell type. Further testing and analysis is necessary to determine if you are truly over the blood alcohol limit. That’s why police forces around Australia and reputable workplace alcohol testing firms will always carry out follow-up testing, to ensure the result from the breathalyser unit is indeed accurate.
This is an important qualification to make if you do purchase and rely on a personal breathalyser. Only use it as a guide. Because they’re not 100% accurate, a reading of 0.04% on your personal device might be 0.03% or 0.05%, or potentially higher.
Where can I buy a Draeger alcohol testing device?
You can buy Draeger breathalysers without leaving your home or in fact your armchair.
Integrity Sampling sells two Draeger Alcotest units on our website – the Draeger Alcotest 5820 and the Draeger Alcotest 3820. The former is mostly designed for the professional alcohol testing user and the price of $780 reflects this, while the 3820 is very affordable at $295.
Order your Father’s Day gift today from the Integrity Sampling website and you could be giving the gift of life.
