If you take illegal drugs, whether it’s occasional usage for recreational purposes or more regularly for pain or addiction, there’s a fair chance you kid yourself that it’s not doing you any harm or the consequences of doing drugs isn’t that big. Possibly, that’s true, but maybe…
Scenario 1
You’re having a great time with mates, having a few drinks, when one your friends gets out an ecstasy pill, a few points of ICE or a small amount of cocaine. You decide to indulge. After all, what can it hurt?
After taking the drugs, you continue to have a great time, before calling it a night to go home and sleep off the drugs and alcohol.
Scenario 2
You’re having a great time with mates, having a few drinks, when one your friends gets out an ecstasy pill, a few points of ICE or a small amount of cocaine. You decide to indulge. After all, what can it hurt?
Later, with the high starting to wear off, you remember that you have to go to work that night. No problems, you think, you’ll just have a couple of hours in bed to sleep off the drugs and alcohol.
However, when you get to work, you’re unlucky enough to get asked to take part in random drug testing. You test positive to illegal drugs and a second sample is taken for further testing. You’re escorted from the workplace and sent home, with your job possibly in jeopardy.
Scenario 3
You’re having a great time with mates, having a few drinks, when one your friends gets out an ecstasy pill, a few points of ICE or a small amount of cocaine. You decide to indulge. After all, what can it hurt?
A little later, you regain consciousness and notice that all your friends are passed out and some of them have been vomiting and aren’t responsive. “What was in those drugs?” you think, as you try to get your mind and fingers to cooperate so you can phone for an ambulance.
Scenario 4
You’re having a great time with mates, having a few drinks, when one your friends gets out an ecstasy pill, a few points of ICE or a small amount of cocaine. You decide to indulge. After all, what can it hurt?
A little later, and with everyone starving, you decide to hop in the car to get some food. It’s only a short trip to a local shopping strip with takeaways galore and if you take the back roads there’ll be no police around. With the taste of a hamburger and chips so close you can almost taste it; you’re euphoric. You don’t notice the soccer ball bouncing on to the road, followed by a child who could hardly be 5. You don’t even touch the brakes as you hit the child, starting a chain reaction that you could never have imagined.
Any drug use can be dangerous and the consequences can be far greater than you might think.
