A crazy Christmas!

Published

When is a positive a negative? When it involves a positive drug or alcohol test, something of which Integrity Sampling experienced all too often over the Christmas period.

During November and December 2014, Integrity Sampling’s consultants detected 69 employees in the workplace who were under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The 69 positive results came from 1600 tests. That’s a rate of 1 in 23 who tested positive.

The attached graph shows that for positive drug tests during the Nov/Dec period, ice, speed and other methamphetamines were the main culprit, accounting for 60% of positive drug tests. Next were amphetamines with 16%, THC (e.g. marijuana and cannabis) with 12% and opiates with 11%.

This graph shows the drugs used by people caught with positive tests during November/December
