Following on from a front page story in the Herald Sun this week that claimed that suburban and country football players were allegedly using the drug ICE before matches, the Herald Sun has published an editorial by columnist John Rogerson promoting the need for education in the ICE fight.
While casting light on the seriousness of the drug and the issues faced by our communities, the article highlights that ICE is still a minority drug, used by approximately 2% of our population. And while the article also pinpoints that there is no clear evidence that ICE use is widespread in sport, it also focuses on the role of parents in ensuring the sporting clubs used by our children are helping to educate their members on the importance of healthy behaviours and not condoning poor attitudes to drugs, including ICE and alcohol.
