Integrity Sampling travels far and wide to conduct drug and alcohol testing in workplaces, and so to it seems does Queensland Police for its roadside testing.

A group of officers from Highway Patrol Mount Isa recently travelled to Birdsville – a trip of over 7 hours – for their annual races. According to the My Police website, the officers made the journey to provide a road policing presence for the event.

It’s the first time horse racing has been held at Birdsville for two years, due to COVID. Crowds were down on previous years, but more than 3000 race-goers managed to travel to the edge of the Simpson Desert for the colourful event. Not bad when you consider the population of Birdsville is 115!

This year’s Birdsville Races was deemed successful and we’re glad to report that race-goers did behave themselves… At least on the roads!

A total of 922 roadside breath tests were conducted by Queensland Police with only one driver detected drink driving. In addition, one person was detected driving with drugs in their system. Another 14 motorists were issued with speeding offences.

According to the My Police website, drink/drug driving and speeding are two of the Fatal Five major killers on Queensland roads. Drink driving alone is a factor in 30 per cent of fatal road accidents in Australia.

Drug and alcohol testing everywhere, man!

As we mentioned in the opening paragraph, Integrity Sampling travels far and wide to conduct its workplace drug and alcohol testing.

This is perhaps most notable in Western Australia, which occupies around 33 per cent of the land area of the entire nation. In Western Australia, Integrity Sampling has locations in Busselton, Dampier, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Perth and Port Hedland.

Like our other branches across the country, our Western Australian locations offer a total drug and alcohol management solution, including development of drug and alcohol policies and support in providing education to the workforce on the risks of drugs and alcohol. And, of course, they provide drug and alcohol testing in workplaces, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency situations.

It’s worth noting that if your workplace isn’t located in one of the Western Australian towns and cities mentioned above, you should still contact Integrity Sampling. All our branches can travel outside their locations to provide their valuable services.

To contact Integrity Sampling, phone 1300 725 482 or email contact@integritysampling.com.au. We’ll help protect your business and improve your workplace safety.
